In the early 1980’s, I had many requests from my fellow musicians to help them with their lighting and sound. They needed help with equipment, and information, and wanted to rent my equipment. At first, I resisted, but then saw a need in the market, and started Python Light & Sound in 1984.

It was a small and slow start. Thinking back sometimes, I wonder why I did it, and honestly how I did it, but I am always glad that I did it. 

For the first few years, I would rent what I had, and when demand increased, I would purchase used equipment from other musicians, touring companies who were retiring some of their old equipment, and build some of the lighting stands, etc. that we used. 

After we were established in the business, and it was clear that it would continue, I checked into dealerships starting with a musical accessories company, and then moving on to various other companies who supplied us with the products that people wanted.

The company has evolved through the years, as technology has evolved, and expectations and sophistication of customers have evolved as well. There is still that basic need to supply, instruct, and help my customers whether they are seasoned professionals, or raw beginners. I go to great extents, and great pains to do this.

When I started the business it was strictly a Rock and Roll Band Market. Soon, Country Bands started asking for help and rentals, and I honestly never expected what came next. The DJ market exploded on the scene, and bands began to take a back seat to the DJ craze. Now the Karaoke market has EXPLODED onto the scene, and who knows what is next. Whatever it is, we will be here, ready and willing to help you to achieve your next level. I am happy to see that the band market is again taking shape, and there seems to be more of a balance to the entertainment industry in the Cedar Valley.
